Are your processes both efficient and effective? If you do not ask, you will never know. But one of the keys is to ask the "right" people; ask those who execute the processes.

Your processes are the engine through which you accomplish tasks. Tasks produce results or lead to other tasks that produce results. If your processes do not work effectively, your results will be negatively impacted. 

In the diagram above, you will note the disconnect. Even worse, on the process map to the right, lines cross. In a effective process, the map's lines should never cross. Think of lines that cross as an entry point for confusion. You want to eliminate those entry points. 

Bick worked for a company once where one of his contributions to the company was the creation of process maps for core processes such as Quality Assurance and Product/Rate Changes.
